Roller Derby: Welcome to the Big Mountain Misfits

Yesterday was mine (and my bff, Tiffany's) first day of roller derby. We were put through a hard-ass work endurance work out off our skates. On the 22 we went and watched our first roller derby bout. It was hot. Our home town team, the Big Mountain Misfits, lost by 1 point: 114> Hellgate (Missoula) Dirt Road Dolls to FVRD's Misfits (that's Flathead Valley Roller Derby) > 113. It was close. We sat in the Crash Zone, which was for 18 and older only and a derby chick even slid into us.
My Aunt Trisha happens to be on the Misfits team and invited me and Tiffany to practice yesterday. Apparently endurance practice doesn't happen very often.
Tiff and I haven't worked out in high school, and she graduated 2 years before I did. Her last gym class was when she was a sophomore. I took track in high school (as a thrower) so I new workouts were tough. Sadly though, I haven't done much work since I got out of high school 2 years ago. I worked so hard out I had to stop in the middle of practice and puke my guts out. It was a blast.
Tiffany and I are both in a lot of pain right now. I hope you enjoy reading this as you follow mine and Tiff's adventure through Roller Derby!!!!!

Woot!

Clark Kent vs Edward Cullen

Fall 2008 I became addicted to the popular book series, Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. I am proud to say that I am a member of Team Jacob (so if you were doubting my sanity I hope I pushed away those doubts). I have recently discovered the drug known as Smallville. I'm not a fan of Superman, Iron Man is much sexier, but I've discovered some rather shocking similarities between Stephanie Meyer's novel and Hollywood's telling of Superman's adolescence.

Edward Cullen, to Bella Swan in the beginning, is an extraordinarily, handsome young man with a life full of secrets. Why do he and his family skip town when the sun comes out in the ever rainy town of Forks, Washington? Why does Edward skip the blood typing? How come after a period of time the Cullen's eyes turn so black that it's like their soles are behind solid oak (and locked) doors? And the most important question is why did Edward walk away without a scratch in that car accident? To Bella, Edward is a mystery that she just has to solve.

Speaking of mysteries, Chloe Sullivan is a reporter who loves to solve the odd mysteries of her home in Kansas. Since the life changing meteor shower that had a disastrous effect on the citizens of Smallville, strange things have been happening. Chloe has a whole wall dedicated to these mysteries. The mystery she just can't seem to get out of her head is the boy she has a crush on, Clark Kent. Clark Kent always seems to either be in the wrong place at the wrong time or part of every Smallville crime. It intrigues Chloe, and she always seems to have a knack for pushing Clark away. He, too, is a handsome man with a life full of secrets. It doesn't help that he's there one moment and gone the next... or the other way around.

Edward Cullen is a vampire; a supernatural, blood drinking, supposed creature of the night. He is supposed to be the stuff made of nightmares and horror stories all over the world. He is a walking, talking, sort-of-living, fantasy.

Clark Kent is an alien. That is to say, he's from outer-space from a destroyed planet once called Krypton. The alien turned farmboy is also the supposed to be the stuff created from our imaginations, yet there he is, walking on our planet.

The vampires of Stephanie Meyer's creation all have super strength. Edward constantly has to remind Bella that he may easily break her if, ahem, things get too carried away. A good example of this would be in Eclipse when the now famous couple is sitting on the extravagant bed in Edward's bedroom after he returns home from a "hunting trip." He purposely breaks off one of the iron roses and then crushes it into dust to prove his strength. He and the other vamps also posses abilities to run super fast; they also posses keen senses in their eyesight, hearing and smell. As Edward once put it, they are the world's greatest predator; quite unlike Clark Kent's obsessive compulsive disorder to save the citizens of Smallville.

Clark Kent also has super strength and the ability to run amazingly fast. He likes to show these abilities off by helping his parents on the farm.

Strep throat remedy

My fiance has recently developed strep throat. He's been pretty miserable with his fever and lack of ability to eat solid foods due to the swelling. A friend of ours told us that an ex she has eats straight garlic when he develops strep. This gets rid of the soreness a bit and also makes it easier to swallow. The only side effect is the smell, but aside from helping with the sore throat it also will keep the vampires away.
